About Ashley Park House
In Nenagh, County Tipperary, the heart of Ireland, lies Ashley Park House. An 18th century country house offering visitors an events venue and B&B accommodation on the grandest scale. Ashley Park House provides a setting of unmatched tranquility and peace.
Set in 76 acres of beech woodland and formal gardens, the historic country house B&B sits on the shores of Lough Ourna close to Nenagh town.
Location
Ashley Park House sits peacefully in the middle of 76 acres of beech woodland and formal gardens in the heart of County Tipperary, six miles north of the busy market town of Nenagh with its famous circular keep, on the road to Borrisokane and Birr.
On the N52, 7km (4 miles) north of Nenagh. Heading north, look for the lake on the left and go through the stone archway, past the gatehouse.
As you enter the grounds of Ashley Park, the first thing you notice is the stone archway and the imposing gate lodge to the left. The lodge was built around the same time as the arch – around 1870 of stone obtained from a nearby quarry.
The lodge was restored in 1993 as one of the first projects undertaken in the overall restoration programme at Ashley Park. There are lodges on both entrances to the property with many features matching those of the main house. The back lodge was restored in 1996.
Rooms
From the moment you arrive, you are aware that this is no ordinary B&B
Ashley Park House provides a setting of unmatched tranquility and peace. A worthy respite from the rigours of modern living, Ashley Park is one of those beautiful 18th century houses where all is elegance and comfort. The house was fully renovated in 1993 and we have gone through a number of changes from those early days.
We have sought to recreate the original feel of the rooms making use of photographs we found in the basement. In particular, the drawing room and the red dining room were completely upgraded using fabrics and wall paper from Zophany and Colefax and Fowler along with all the upstairs bedrooms.
The verandah floorboards, hand rails and supports have all been replaced and repainted, which now enables guests to stroll out of the rooms on warm summer nights. The gardens have been opened up extensively offering some wonderful views of the flora and fauna at Ashley Park.
